Resistance is not Futile: Coordinated Nationwide Action Getting Traction
Just in case you are not aware of a coordinated national group gathering momentum to resist Trump & Co., check out the link at the end of this post. This group is for real and you can join: local chapters are springing up in places with potential for critical mass.
The emphasis for Indivisible is on pressuring your national-level legislators to. . . well, there are too many issues to enumerate here, but the priority at the moment is trying to save the ACA. For example, here in the Charlottesville area some of our members plan to meet at our (Republican) Congressman’s office Tuesday to make the case against repeal.
Making your physical presence felt is not for everybody, but one thing you can do, on as many issues as you care about, you can give your senators and House representative messages by the usual channels: website comments section, office voicemail, and if possible talk to a staff member (I’ve always found it surprising how often I get an actual person, but those persons may become harder to get in the current uproar.)
For contact info, just go to your representative’s website, which will include their offices outside Washington.
Also snail-mail is said to be effective; they can’t rid themselves of a postal letter with a mouse click. Post cards are cheap; what we need to do is inundate the Congress with our message. Actually, every time I’ve written a physical letter to a member of Congress, I have received a letter in reply.
*Finally, I personally urge you to convey to your legislators your opposition to Scott Pruitt as EPA administrator; the damage he can do in just a few months could take decades to repair.

- * Unfortunately for me and probably for any of you, my senators are not on the Environmental and Public Works committee. Nevertheless, I’m still going to plead with them, hoping it’s possible to knock Pruitt out on a full Senate vote, probably coming this week. Find members of the EPW Committee here.
