Trump out of excuses for toxic behavior
Yesterday we heard the official White House doctor reports President Trump to be in good health (due to “good genes” rather than healthy behavior) and scored perfectly on a cognitive test.
You may ask what sort of pressure was put on the doctor to give Trump a much better than passing grade. But, if we can take the good doctor at his word—keeping in mind whom he’s working for—it means that there are no excuses left for what the President says and does.
It is well known that psychopaths typically do well on cognitive tests. A cognitive test does not measure emotional maturity, compassion, moral decency, self-awareness, ability to listen, willingness to take in information contrary to a rigid belief system, willingness to tell the truth, willingness to work hard, or competence in any particular line of work. It allows for the possibility that the subject possesses the opposite of all the traits just listed.
Apparently Trump has been judged mentally competent to take responsibility for his actions. But he doesn’t do that. And his actions are often abhorrent to a large proportion of human beings, even those who agree with his political decisions.
There is a pleading, even made by some on the political left, that the President is cognitively deficient. But that excuse for his atrocities no longer holds water. We are left with no conclusion other than that Donald Trump is a monster who does not belong in public office.
